Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic system of breath-based Yoga. This style, pioneered by the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois is rooted in the traditional teachings of Hatha Yoga and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Primary Series, or Yoga Chikitsa, is the first series in the Ashtanga Yoga lineage. With a focus on deep internal healing, the Primary Series has become the foundation for many of the modern schools of Vinyasa Yoga. Please join Elizabeth Sitzler for an in-depth investigation of the Primary Series. Together, we will explore the asanas, theory, and history that come together to form this beautiful lineage and practice. We will also explore proper breath, alignment, and modifications to safely enjoy this practice. Elizabeth has taught in four Mysore programs throughout the Philadelphia area and is currently the Director of Mysore PDY in Haverford, PA. She has completed the Advanced B (fourth) series and actively studies the Ashtanga yoga method directly from Paramaguru Sharath Jois at the KPJAYI in Mysore, India, as well as from Jorgen Christiansson in Los Angeles, California.
