If the Devil is in the Details then the Joy is in the Transitions.
That’s why Vinyasa Yoga is so much Fun.
Vinyasa yoga is both a creative and technical practice. By advancing our understanding of technique we can be more creative and in turn our creativity can inspire us to develop better technique. When approached this way, we as vinyasa yoga practitioners and teachers can keep ourselves fresh, motivated and in a state of constant growth and transformation. During this workshops concepts drawn from traditional vinyasa will be cross referenced with wisdom drawn from Katonah Yoga, playfulness drawn from capoeira and interwoven with the freedom of a more acrobatic approach to movement.
The foundation of a successful vinyasa class includes understanding the overall arc of a practice and its constituent elements. When those elements are understood in terms of their relevance and order, one can be incredibly imaginative and deliver a fundamentally intelligent and beneficial experience to the student.
During this 16 hour training we will focus specifically on how transitions can be utilized to enhance our students’ and our own experience of postures as well as to develop a better fluency with movement as a whole. Topics will include weight shifting, twisting and rotation, bearing weight on the hands, use of the core and how working with partners.
This workshop is recommended for yoga students who are interested in expanding their practice in a creative and dynamic way, students of other disciplines who are interested in an alternative perspective on yoga and to yoga teachers who would like to begin weaving other disciplines into their curriculum.
